Operation Agent Ink Classes

Hey lovely gals and guys! Are you ready for Operation Agent Ink??

It's tomorrow!!

Okay, so firstly, let me say, if you are participating in NaNo this year, can you let me know? I signed up! YIKES!!! and I have no idea what Ia m doing. I got lost over there, so that's what I 'll be doing this afternoon. Trying to figure ever thing out!

Now, for the classes!

Here is how everything is going down. Classes will be sent out on Thursday's. Check-in will be on Monday. Check in's will be for asking questions or help with the assignment.

Now, assignments will not be like school work. They will be suggestions to improve your writing or to check you work for mistakes or gaps in character, plot or storyline.

Then, there will be help for editing.

Many have asked about mentoring and what all it involves. Mentoring will be done once a week in the form of a private email. You can ask questions, send pieces of your writing (up to two pages) or ask for help on something you are stuck on with your writing. This will not be a permanent situation. It's only for the workshop. If you have a great CP, feel free to ask them for help.

Classes that will be offered:

An Authors Voice and How to Find It

Point of View: Which Way are you Pointing?

Please Tell Me How to Show: Showing vs. Telling

Active Advice For Passive Writing

Characters That Are Alive

Setting and Description that are Vivid

Creating a World: World Building

Storytelling With Your Muse

Climbing Over the Wall: Writers Block Inspiration

Writing Your Novel in 30 Days

Editing for a Polished Manuscript

Your Submission Package

*****************

Each of the these classes will be distributed evenly throughout the next weeks.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

You can comment below with the classes you are most interested in joining. Because a couple of my helpers are no longer helping, it will help me organize the classes more, as I'll be taking on more lessons!

Looking forward to the month of November. I have 3 project going on this month!

  1. Hi, Ink. I'll be joining all the classes.

    Here's to a jam-packed-writing-frenzy November!

  2. Lots of good classes. I'm interested in the author's voice, showing vs. telling, characters that are alive, settings and descriptions, and world building. I don't know how many classes each student can effectively handle, but those are the ones I'm most interested in.

  3. So proud of what you're doing here, Ink! I won't be participating, but it all sounds amazing and I'm stoked for you and what you're doing. Thanks for this! <3

  4. Hi Ink, not sure I'll hit them all, but I'm looking forward to jumping in. I actually think all the topics look great and could be helpful. No matter how many times we've read it, it's good to review it.

  5. All of the classes, of course! Thanks again for doing this.

  6. I may not be able to keep up with all of them, but I'm going to try. I'm doing Nano, too, but it'll be limited due to an edit-for-hire job. Thanks for working on this!

  7. Hello!

I am doing NaNo, too! This will be a fourth year. Don't worry, you'll get the hang of everything. If you'd like some tips, stop by my blog. I've just posted some. :)

The classes sound awesome, but I'll be swamped with NaNo. Maybe next time!

    1. hehe! I love crazy!

Yes, I'll be more busy than I can shake a stick at, but here's the thing. I broke my foot and have lots a free time with nothing to do but prop my foot up and write.

  9. I look forward to it. Which classes I join in may vary according to my available time, so I may have to see how I go if that's okay. You are busy organising all this!

  10. Not sure If I can keep up with all of the classes, but they all sound fantastic!

  11. I'm going to try and do all the classes. I'm also doing NaNo (my name at NaNo is MeadowAngel- add me to your writing buddies if you want and I'll try to answer any questions/help you find your way around). This is my 3rd year doing it. :)

  12. Good luck with NaNo! I'm in too - feel free to add me as a buddy (kristam) and we can cheer each other on!

  13. I'm thinking I may touch on all the classes except 'An Authors Voice and How to Find It' & 'Writing Your Novel in 30 Days'. Although the latter would be interesting reading, I find it exhausting to maintain a steady flow of words for that long.

  14. I want to do them all! They sound awesome. Thanks agains for doing this.

  15. I am also doing NaNo (kind of a last minute decision) so I'm going to play everything by ear. But the classes all sound great! Thank you so much for all your hard work :)

  16. The classes I am interested in:

An Authors Voice and How to Find It
Point of View: Which Way are you Pointing?
Please Tell Me How to Show: Showing vs. Telling
    Characters That Are Alive
Setting and Description that are Vivid
    Creating a World: World Building
    Storytelling With Your Muse
    Editing for a Polished Manuscript
    Your Submission Package

I'm still hemming and hawing on NaNo because I just a few days ago finished my first manuscript, almost 84,000 words in 31 days. I'm leaning more toward pending more time in November critiquing.

  17. I'm interested in all of them, but especially the Characters class!

    ReplyDelete
  18. I'm doing NaNo, too! I intend to use my NaNo novel in this workshop!

I am also doing PiBoIdMo (yes, call me crazy, but my writing needs a kick start - November must be my month! LOL!)

    1. You are doing the same thing as I am! I'm doing Nano and PiBoIdMo, too. Plus another project. And I was doing some editing on a couple older projects, but I am putting them on hold for now... I wonder why? hehe

  19. I'm way in over my head with nano. That being said I'm interested in all of them.

  20. I am interested in all of them. I would love to get advice and ideas on everything from setting and voice to characterization and world building. I'm sure I could learn from them all

    ReplyDelete
  22. Many of the classes look awesome! I'm also doing NaNo, so I'll do the best I can with the classes. THANKS!

    ReplyDelete
  23. I'm going to try to join all of them if I can!

    ReplyDelete
  24. I'm a little late with this, but I'd like to do all of them as well.

    ReplyDelete
  25. I have three I am interested in: Show vs tell, world building and POV (first POV is covered, third? Yeah I need help!!)

    ReplyDelete
  26. I am going to try to attend them all, because I feel all of them could be so helpful, but the ones I am most interested in are: active advice for passive writing, creating a world: world building, editing for a polished manuscript, and submission package.

Operation Agent Ink

UPDATE: PLEASE FILL OUT THIS QUESTIONNAIRE AFTER YOU SIGN UP. Have you ever wondered what agents were dying to find in their inbox/slush pile? There have been many times I entered a contest and not even received a comment, not even from one of the agents. Or maybe the agent was kind enough to leave a comment that simply said, "Sorry, this just isn't what I'm looking for, but I love the premise and your voice." I always walk away feeling unsatisfied. If I had known exactly what the agent wanted beyond, "YA" or "Fantasy" I might not have even entered a contest I knew I wouldn't win! Even more, I wasted a very busy agents time! Well, your time of guessing is up! OPERATION AGENT INK to the rescue! That's right! This workshop will help aspiring authors get on the list of an agent's WISH LIST! When the workshop is over, your manuscript will be ready to view by a group of AMAZING agents who are dying to see what you've wri...

Writer In Motion CP feedback

Hey beautiful guys and dolls! Here it is! My CP feedback edited story. Had a hard time with this, but I hope it makes sense. I've got a post I'm working on I plan to put up after Thanksgiving. Here ya go. Enjoy... Every morning I wake to carnival day.  Today, though, I have my key. If I don’t use it before midnight, my way of escape will gone. It’s a silver key with a twisted metal handle, a sapphire stone half moon and engraved stars. There’s a tiny inscription on the moon, but it’s so small, I’ve never been able to read it.I’ve always kept mine in my jewelry box, but today, I string it on a ribbon and tie it around my neck. My two best friends will be wearing theirs, too, and I wonder how they will escape this carnival of dreams. “What’s it for?” Cress asks as we stand in line for the swings. I run my fingertips over the entire silver surface. “I don’t know. It belonged to my grandmother,” I say. “Whatever.” She shrugs her shoulder in a dismissive way. “Have ...

Workshop 10

Today, let's get readers hooked from the very first sentence. If you do, you are off to a great start and hopefully a great first chapter. We are going to focus on the first and second sentence and how you can draw readers in while introducing two major items about your book: 1. Your MC 2. The main conflict. How? Is it really possible to do this in only TWO sentences? YES! Example: My name is Snow, like the white powder that falls during winter, though I don't know what my mom was thinking because it was ninety degrees the day I was born. I turned twelve the year I married a man I hated and thirteen when my first baby was born. This sentence tells us a lot. It shows us a little about Snow's personality, it hints toward a shortened childhood and could possibly point to a different time era. I also can definitely see the conflict. Can you? You only have a few minutes to make a good, first impression. Make sure you wow your reader enough they'll actually t...
