ISWG Feburary Post

Hey all!

I'm sharing this month, with a happy smile on my face. No, no good news as of yet, but for the first time in a long while, I'm not insecure about my writing.

Of course, I still have times when I think I may never be published, but I've learned so much about publishing, writing, and growing as "ME" that I can honestly admit:

I'm happy right where I am.

So many people go through life wishing they had this, or lived here, or was more like someone else, they miss the wonderful life granted them.

Stop wishing for the green grass on the other side of the road and be happy where you are, with who you are!!

What about you, beautiful guys and dolls? How are you feeling this month?
Any good news to share?

Leave a comment, PLEASE!!

  1. Well said! If you can't be happy with who you are and where you're at, you won't be happy with more.

  2. You just have to tackle each day as it comes. It's a difficult craft we're trying to master, and the setbacks can be daunting. But the progress is often measured in leaps, not inches. So keep pushing and trying every day, because you never know when you're going to take your next big jump. :)

  3. That's wonderful that you're feeling content right now.

They might say the grass is greener elsewhere, but once someone gets to that "elsewhere," they might still find reasons to be dissatisfied.

  4. YES! You're a kindred spirit. Yes, I have doubts as well, but I'm so thankful for where I am right now.

  5. Yes, be thankful for who you are and where you are. All writers must feel insecure at times. I sometimes think I gave up too easily since I never bothered to send my recent book to an agent. I just put it on Amazon as an e-book. That suits me at the moment.
Having doubts is not such a bad thing. I would say it's better than being super-confident and then being knocked back. Go for it gradually and I'm sure you'll find your way.

  7. Hello from IWSG,

Thank you for your joyful post. This month is good for me. My day job got better. I finally quit fighting with my muse. Life is looking up. Now if only it'd warm up a bit. I'm freezing my toes off in Michigan.

Operation Agent Ink

UPDATE: PLEASE FILL OUT THIS QUESTIONNAIRE AFTER YOU SIGN UP. Have you ever wondered what agents were dying to find in their inbox/slush pile? There have been many times I entered a contest and not even received a comment, not even from one of the agents. Or maybe the agent was kind enough to leave a comment that simply said, "Sorry, this just isn't what I'm looking for, but I love the premise and your voice." I always walk away feeling unsatisfied. If I had known exactly what the agent wanted beyond, "YA" or "Fantasy" I might not have even entered a contest I knew I wouldn't win! Even more, I wasted a very busy agents time! Well, your time of guessing is up! OPERATION AGENT INK to the rescue! That's right! This workshop will help aspiring authors get on the list of an agent's WISH LIST! When the workshop is over, your manuscript will be ready to view by a group of AMAZING agents who are dying to see what you've wri...

GUTGAA Meet and Greet!

Hey everyone! I'm taking a quick break from vacation to introduce myself and say hi! I'm really looking forward to meeting everyone and meeting some new friends! -Where do you write? I live in a camper. My writing spot? Usually in bed. But sometimes I get a chance to write in the "living room" but that's rare. When I am at home (yay!) I have my own little office:) I love m space there and I can write during the day light hours. Oh, who am I kidding! That's rare. -Quick. Go to your writing space, sit down and look to your left. What is the first thing you see? My husband. Yeah, he sleeps with me! -Favorite time to write? At night. When it's quite. Aaahhh. Sweet quite. -Drink of choice while writing? Depends on the time of day I get to write. In the morning, coffee, coffee and more coffee. (with Creme Brulee creamer!) Afternoon it's iced coffee. After school, it's Dr. Pepper. Night it's water. -When writin...

The Writers Voice Entry

How excited am I? Can't you hear me laughing and squeeing, right there where you are? Yep! I'm excited! I made it tot he first round of the Writers Voice!! So today, I've posted my entry, here int his blog post, for the coaches to come around and read and decide if I'm ready to move on to the next round. Keep your fingers crossed for me PLEASE:) The entry I'm posting as went through numerous rounds of edits and revisions to get it where it is already. I've cut, squeezed, rearranged and replaced so much, I think my brain is on fire! I've changed names, combined characters, cut characters, and I've changed titles a couple of times and agonized over my genre until I cried . I've put th e first three chapters through a couple of workshops and had feedback from a few agents, so I'm sure I 've got the results I wanted. (I can be honest, can't I?) So, here we go, you beautiful guys and dolls. Feel free to leave any comments that might ...
