Obstacles

Good afternoon lovely readers!
Obstacles. We all face them. Sometimes we stand and state, mouth agape, no voice, tear stained eyes. Sometimes we fall in despair. Sometimes we look for a way over and march forward.

What do you do? Tell me, dear readers, what do you do when life gives you lemons?

Right now, I'm trying to figure out how to make better lemonade with the obstacles I'm facing:)

Question #2

What obstacles have you faced lately?

Comments

  1. I've faced many obstacles here recently. Crazy people on the internet mostly. I had a really hateful email that said, "Narcissism is the curse of our age, you're just another dull humorless wannabe on the interwebz but keep trying. All the Narcissistic junk always seems to end up as bloggers." It almost made me want to stop blogging and writing all together.. but I literally had to remind myself of all the people who have supported me and encouraged me every step of the way. They are all apart of me and that's why I can't quit. As far as anything else goes, when life throws me lemons, I too try to make lemonade.. if at first it's too sour, then add a little more sugar.. until it's just right! In other words, slow down, relax and quit exerting so much pressure on yourself.. everything will fall into place and in time you'll see that. Just have a little faith!

    1. Gggrrr! Why are people so hateful? One thing I have found out is that people can be tough over the internet because they don't have to face you.

And you keep on the lookout for that lemonade. I'm making some real soon and I'm inviting you over for a visit on the back porch.

      Keep your chin up, girl:)

  2. Ooh...lemons...had a few of those lately. Mmm...more than a few. I sulk...for a while...then jump back in and attack something (while trying to steer clear of people I'd like to attack ;) I try to stay focused on things I can handle and control. The sulking period sometimes lasts longer than I'd like it too... ;) Fingers crossed for you that things turn around soon!!

As for Crystal... I'm angry for you Crystal about that email you received!!

    1. I was angry and appalled at first but then I was just plain hurt and it made me question everything! Then I regained my perspective thanks to so many of my dear blogger friends! All is right with the world once again!

    3. Hi Kimberly:) I pout, too. Generally, it's accompanied by tears. I know. It only makes us stronger. but in all honesty, I've never liked lifting weights. I don't like big muscles, but I guess I need them. I've always been a weakling. So, I'm out to find some sugar for those sour lemons:)

  3. Hello! I'm Jess :)

I definitely have had some obstacles for the past...I don't know, 6 months with writing. I've tried so many different writing techniques, and new projects. I have one though, I have been writing for 2 years. But my writing wasn't where I wanted it to be with this project...so I backed away. It was very hard. But as of lately, I'm hitting a writing flow and it's amazing.

    1. Sounds like you did the right thing to take a break. sometimes that's just what you need to get your inspiration back. And it looks like it worked for you! YAY!!

  4. I reached a point in my work in progress where I had to split the characters into three groups, one of which is in a different time zone, and another whose story will be told in a flashback in a few chapters. This has made the outlining very tricky.

    1. Oh, but that sounds so interesting! Tough writing, but imaginative writing. I like it:)
Thanks for stopping by. Keep us updated on that split character workout!

    1. Well, that sounds like most of us! Sometimes I feel sorry for my husband when I hit an obstacle course. But that only lasts for a few minutes. hehe!
Thanks for stopping by and following my blog. I'm hopping over to see you now:)

  6. Husband is out of town. Smallest child was sick all weekend. Next smallest was sick yesterday. Back pain is flaring up. It feels like Thursday, but it's just Tuesday. Internet was out yesterday. Teen is being particularly teenagerly. I am taking it an hour at a time. It could be worse.

If you're talking about writing obstacles, I take it a paragraph at a time. It usually works its way out by paragraph three.

  7. Is take a nap the appropriate response to the lemon question? No? I'm sticking with that :)

  8. Oh Tonja, when kids are sick, it goes from heartbreaking to heart tasking pretty quick. Once, every one of my 6 kids were sick with the stomach virus AT THE SAME TIME. we set up a hospital int he living room. IT was a very LOOOOOOOOOONG week.

As for the teenage phenomenon, it passes, too, but just not as easily as the sick kids.

Writer In Motion CP feedback

Hey beautiful guys and dolls! Here it is! My CP feedback edited story. Had a hard time with this, but I hope it makes sense. I've got a post I'm working on I plan to put up after Thanksgiving. Here ya go. Enjoy... Every morning I wake to carnival day.  Today, though, I have my key. If I don’t use it before midnight, my way of escape will gone. It’s a silver key with a twisted metal handle, a sapphire stone half moon and engraved stars. There’s a tiny inscription on the moon, but it’s so small, I’ve never been able to read it.I’ve always kept mine in my jewelry box, but today, I string it on a ribbon and tie it around my neck. My two best friends will be wearing theirs, too, and I wonder how they will escape this carnival of dreams. “What’s it for?” Cress asks as we stand in line for the swings. I run my fingertips over the entire silver surface. “I don’t know. It belonged to my grandmother,” I say. “Whatever.” She shrugs her shoulder in a dismissive way. “Have

Today, my feelings are mixed. On one hand, I've faced more rejection and that's not easy to write about or admit to the world. But I am not crying in my "milk" (no beer, folks:) I want to, but what good would it do??? I received a detailed critique from a "Best First Line" contest. The critique was the best I have ever received and seriously opened my eyes to "how" to improve my writing. Nice! Speaking of critiques, I am still looking for a critique partner. If anyone is looking back, please let me know and we can swap info. I'm sending off a YA query letter and first pages to 3 agents this week. Wish me luck. This will be the first time I have directly contacted and agent with a query. Yes, I'm nervous, so I'm saying again, WISH ME LUCK!!!

Operation Agent Ink

UPDATE: PLEASE FILL OUT THIS QUESTIONNAIRE AFTER YOU SIGN UP. Have you ever wondered what agents were dying to find in their inbox/slush pile? There have been many times I entered a contest and not even received a comment, not even from one of the agents. Or maybe the agent was kind enough to leave a comment that simply said, "Sorry, this just isn't what I'm looking for, but I love the premise and your voice." I always walk away feeling unsatisfied. If I had known exactly what the agent wanted beyond, "YA" or "Fantasy" I might not have even entered a contest I knew I wouldn't win! Even more, I wasted a very busy agents time! Well, your time of guessing is up! OPERATION AGENT INK to the rescue! That's right! This workshop will help aspiring authors get on the list of an agent's WISH LIST! When the workshop is over, your manuscript will be ready to view by a group of AMAZING agents who are dying to see what you've wri
