My Writing Career Changes and Plans

With today's access to the world via Internet, I’ve come in contact with hundreds of websites. Who hasn’t, right? As a writer, looking for the perfect agent to represent my manuscript (s) it’s been a tempting temptation to put my work out there to anyone who is interested. I mean that’s what all authors want, isn’t? To have a published book by anyone who is willing to print it? That’s a huge NO. My perspective on this has changed in a drastic, career changing way. After being swindled a few times, cheated twice, used by so-called friends in the industry, and lied to more than I can count, I’m pulling back the pens and doing a huge inventory check. My most recent girl agent crush has recently tweeted an extensive amount of writer tips, which I took to heart. She mentioned that self publishing works for some and may be a good thing for them. But if the reason a writer chooses to self pub is because no one else will represent them or publish them, then you are cutting your se...

Update On Grand Baby

Hey all. I wanted to check in and let everyone know my baby got to go home from NICU!!! She perfectly healthy and happy. And did I mention how perfect and precious she is? She was born with low blood sugar. It took her a week to stablize, but once she got used to eating, she never looked back! She weighted 8lb 2 oz and was 19 1/2 inches long. Thanks for all your prayers and well wishes. Life will return to normal and I hope to get back to regular blogging again very soon. See you soon, beautiful guys and dolls.

#IWSG Feburary 2015 Insecure Writers Support Group

Hey all you beautiful guys and dolls! I'm so glad I have the support of this community.  And so today, I thought I'd share some of the many reasons why I have stayed a part of this group for so long. (I think it's been at least three years. I will check and edit this if I'm wrong.) Yep! Here's the link to my very first post in 2012! My 1st IWSG post! It makes writing easier. I  need the encouragement. I enjoy the company. I learn new things. I make new friends. I can share my frustrations and disappointments without fear fear of being laughed at. I have a shoulder to cry on when needed. I can share others disappointments and encourage them. I know I am not alone. Thank you all for visiting and encouraging me, through everything. Last time, I mentioned my desire and resolution to self publish. Can I just say I had no idea how hard that would be? After looking into this, I realized it may be more work than I can handle. I don't know??? But I...

In which I tell the honest, raw truth

Hello beautiful guys and dolls! This post could get a little sloppy as I bare my soul and tell my heart. But I've needed to this for a long, LONG time. So, here goes... Like all new writers, I started my journey with high hopes and big dreams. I wrote my first book, started a new blog, got a facebook, and eventually hopped on Twitter. I wrote helpful blog posts and shared amazing links, asked agents to join and help, hosted pitch parties, and even wrote my own workshops (times 2 or 3) I visited blog after blog after blog and joined blog hop after blog hop. I admit, I was addicted to blog hops there for a LONG time. I wanted to make as many writing friends as I could because I needed advice and craved their knowledge. I commented and encouraged and praised and hugged and sent virtual hugs and chocolate to as many blog/twitter friends as I possibly could. I knew I would probably need the favor returned when times got hard for me. If you're all honest, you'd probably adm...

New Grandson!

Yes! I have a new, beautiful and perfect grandson. Wait. I can't believe I'm saying that!. No, I'm not old!! He was  born yesterday weighing in at 6lbs and 9ozs and 20 inches long. They named him Theo. Theo's my first grandson and my 2nd grandbaby. My 3rd grandbaby, a girl (!!) is due in March! Yes, I know. I'm blessed!! PS. I have the workshop scheduled, but it looks like I will need to put it off until after the new year. This gives me plenty of time to schedule some guest posts and hope to have a pitch party following the workshop. In the mean time, I'll be posting how I progressed through my latest plot development using Dannie Morin's Plan4Wrimo workshop. (Thanks, Dannie!)
