Insecure This Month???

As is  quite frequently, I have no Internet today. So I am posting my blog post from my phone.  Yikes!
 Hey beautiful guys and dolls! How has your month been?  We've moved twice but have finally settled into a small apartment for the next couple of months. Then we will be moving back home to my house that I missed dearly.  My husband's work travels a lot. A. Lot.  So in order to spend more time with him my children and I travel with him.  We get to see quite a bit of the united states this way. Fun!

 This month, I plan to participate in pitch wars.  For those of you who do not know, this is an online contest or unpublished manuscript and unagented writers.  If my manuscript is chosen by a mentor,  I will have the privilege to work one on one with him or her to polish my manuscript and get it ready for the agent around in November. Wish me luck!

 This is plenty to be insecure about this month. What if I'm not chosen? What if I'm rejected? What if I'm chosen but do not receive any agent requests?

 Never fear! I will make it through chosen or not!

    I did #pitmad and found a publisher. I hope you have as much, or more, success. Most importantly, have fun with it. :-)

    Good luck with Pitch Wars! I thought about entering with my MG-ish book I was planning to release in August (now pushed off the release date), but I decided I'm too committed to going indie to use a book I'm going to release by the end of the year anyway.

    How fun that you get to travel with him! My husband travels every month or two for a couple of days and I always think I'm going to travel with him but at the last minute, I chicken out and stay home!

Workshop 10

Today, let's get readers hooked from the very first sentence. If you do, you are off to a great start and hopefully a great first chapter. We are going to focus on the first and second sentence and how you can draw readers in while introducing two major items about your book: 1. Your MC 2. The main conflict. How? Is it really possible to do this in only TWO sentences? YES! Example: My name is Snow, like the white powder that falls during winter, though I don't know what my mom was thinking because it was ninety degrees the day I was born. I turned twelve the year I married a man I hated and thirteen when my first baby was born. This sentence tells us a lot. EVER Blog Hop!!!!!

I joined a blog hop flash writing contest with/for Jessa Russo. It's in honor of her first EVER book release. I met Jessa during the Curiosity Quills Blog hop. I have never read a ghost story, but after reading Jessa's query and first few pages and then learning more about her ghost Frankie, I was so inspired, I fell in love -with Frankie. I was so inspired, I decided to step out of my comfort zone and write a story I had never written before and never thought I would write. Or even want to write. But I did, and I did.
