Insecure Writers Group May

Wow. I can't believe I'm posting for May already. Where as the year gone?

I've been away from home for two weeks and I just got home today. I'm so happy to be back in my house, my bed and my comfy chair:)

Again, there are some many doubts swarming my head as another month has come and gone and I still find myself unpublished and unagented. Yes, I wonder what's wrong with me? What's wrong with my writing? Why doesn't anyone love my stories, my characters?

WHY?? Not when. Not will they ever.
But WHY?

And yes, again I have crossed the bridge of " Why bother? Why keep trying? No one will every love my books."

But again, I smothered those s fears by preparing to send out more queries AND by starting not one, but TWO new WIP's.

Yes. It's going to happen.
I can't give up on that dream.
I won't.

    Those doubts can be hard to fight, but we've all had them. You'll get there. I know that isn't what you always want to hear, but being a writer is probably 60% writing and 40% waiting. Waiting for an agent or editor, or for revisions to be done. We'll all get there in our own timing. :)

    I bet if you stopped even for a week you'd be glancing at the computer or a pen and itching to get some words down. Once writing is in the blood that's it. There is no going back. :-)

    I love that back-in-my-own-bed feeling.

    Sometimes the writing dream can feel impossible, but just keep at it and have faith that something great will happen.

    Never give up, never surrender.
    No one will ever get a chance to love them if you quit. So you can't. There is a season for all things - yours will come!

    I decided to go indie because I came to the realisation that I don't really want an agent. I thought I did because that's what everyone says you're supposed to have, but it just came to feel like too much of a rat race, seeking arbitrary validation from someone instead of making my own happy ending. It also came to feel as though most agents are only interested in commercial product and the next big thing, instead of books that are written in a more old-fashioned style, or in less-trendy genres. Among many other reasons, of course.

    You've come a long way by writing the books and subbing them. Most people don't even know what that requires. Stick to it and be sure to pat yourself on the back for where you've arrived already.

    That's it! We must destroy the negative thoughts and instead create positive ones. Not always easy. I doubt myself, too :( But you know what keeps me going? My love for my story. I love it (or what it will turn into after many drafts, haha) and I want others to love it, too! We shall make it :)

Writer in Motion Round two

Hey beautiful guys and dolls!! Welcome to my first post during WRITER IN MOTION round two. I was lucky enough to be chosen in the raffle to have my short, 1,000 word or less flash fiction chosen to be edited by a professional editor! So, follow along  my journey as I go from prompt to polished draft in for weeks. Out first post is prepping for the first draft. Given the prompt, what were my first thoughts and what did I do to prep the character, story, and plot?? HEre's the photo prompt: Honestly, it didn't speak me. At all.
